Theatre of Dare Board of Directors
The Theatre of Dare Board of Directors is a nine-person volunteer committee charged with keeping the lights on and the shows running. Board members serve three-year terms, and elections are held during the General Membership Meeting at the end of each season. Board meetings are held monthly and are open to the general public. STUART PARKS II
Stuart Parks II has been a mainstay on the Theatre of Dare stage for more than a decade. By day he is an archivist at the Outer Banks History Center in Manteo, and at night he takes on the roles of a wide range of characters, including a rowdy mental patient in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, a bumbling King in Spamalot, and a sexy Sasquatch in Cabaret. He’s already served two terms on the board, but somehow still has not learned his lesson, so he’s back for another go.
Penelope was active in community and professional theatre in Columbia, SC before moving to the OBX in 2007. She appeared in TOD's Peter Pan and 20th Anniversary Show and has recently completed her sixth season at the OBX Mystery Dinner. You may also see her summer evenings conducting OBX Ghost Tours in Manteo. With her two daughters away at school, she has more time for theatre and her work as Editor-In-Chief of Pamlico & Albemarle Publishing.
Gail has worked with Theatre of Dare since its inception, directing our very first show, California Suite, way back in 1992! More recently, Gail has directed You Can't Take It With You, Cabaret, and The Very Merry Xmas Carol Holiday Adventure Show, as well as assisting in the production of Boeing Boeing and The Last Five Years. Gail is also a Lost Colony alumnus and holds a Theatre Arts degree from St. Andrew's Presbyterian College.
Bert moved to the area in 2011 to manage the USFWS fire program across NC. Finding a need for some real excitement, he joined TOD in time to perform in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. Many shows and tasks later, he finds himself on the board and looking forward to pushing our group further into the 21st century, even if he'll need to be dragged kicking and screaming there personally.
Daniel has served on the board for the past 5 years and has helmed the position of secretary for that length of time as well. A familiar face on-stage and off, Daniel has acted in and directed in many TOD shows over the past 7 years. He is excited for what the future holds and looks forward to the coming seasons.
