Summer Season Ticket Sale!
Theatre of Dare is entering its 28th Season this fall, and as a way to say "Thank You" to all of our patrons over the years, we're offering a Spectacular Summer Sale on season tickets!
Now through Labor Day, you can buy a Theatre of Dare Season Ticket for just $40 (that's 20% off the regular $51 price)! Your season ticket will get you in to all four of our regular season shows, which includes the a wild and naughty cult classic, a life-affirming two man show, a classic farce and Theatre of Dare's first-ever Shakespeare production! Here's what we've got planned for 2018-19:
The Rocky Horror Show (October 19-28, 2018) - Are you ready to do the Time Warp again? A humorous tribute to the science fiction and horror B-movies of the 1950's through the 70's, this musical tells the story of a newly engaged couple getting caught in a storm and coming to the home of a mad transvestite scientist, Dr Frank N. Furter. The doctor then unveils his new creation, a sort of Frankenstein-style monster in the form of an artificially made, fully grown, physically perfect muscle man named Rocky Horror, complete "with blond hair and a tan".
Tuesdays With Morrie (January 11-20, 2019) - Tuesdays With Morrie is the autobiographical story of Mitch Albom, an accomplished journalist driven solely by his career, and Morrie Schwartz, his former college professor. Sixteen years after graduation, Mitch happens to catch Morrie's appearance on a television news program and learns that his old professor is battling Lou Gehrig's Disease. Mitch is reunited with Morrie, and what starts as a simple visit turns into a weekly pilgrimage and a last class in the meaning of life.
A Midsummer Night's Dream (February 22- March 3, 2019) - William Shakespeare comes to the Outer Banks! A Midsummer Night's Dream chronicles the events surrounding the marriage of Theseus, the Duke of Athens, to Hippolyta, the former queen of the Amazons. These include the adventures of four young Athenian lovers and a group of six amateur actors (the mechanicals) who are controlled and manipulated by the fairies who inhabit the forest in which most of the play is set. The play is one of Shakespeare's most popular works for the stage and is widely performed across the world.
The Nerd (April 5-14, 2016) - Now an aspiring young architect in Terre Haute, Indiana, Willum Cubbert has often told his friends about the debt he owes to Rick Steadman, a fellow ex-GI whom he has never met but who saved his life after he was seriously wounded in Vietnam. He has written to Rick to say that, as long as he is alive, "you will have somebody on Earth who will do anything for you"—so Willum is delighted when Rick shows up unexpectedly at his apartment on the night of his thirty-fourth birthday party. But his delight soon fades as it becomes apparent that Rick is a hopeless "nerd"—a bumbling oaf with no social sense, little intelligence and less tact.
