The Narrator, Man in Chair, presents us with his favorite musical “The Drowsy Chaperone” and as he plays the record the fictitious 1928 Broadway production of it comes to life around him.

In this fictional musical the bride to be, Janet Van De Graaff, has decided to give up the stage for love. The harried producer, Feltzing, must stop the wedding and get his star back or he will be shot by the gangsters who are posing as pastry chefs. All while being accompanied by a variety of wedding guests and of course Janet’s confidant The Chaperone.
