Theatre of Dare Casts a Spell by Sending Audiences 'Into The Woods'

Elise Rumschlag is Rapunzel in Theatre of Dare's production of 'Into The Woods', opening February 13 in Kitty Hawk.
KITTY HAWK - Theatre of Dare is inviting audiences to step into a world of magic,
music, and beloved fairy tales with its upcoming production of the classic Stephen
Sondheim musical Into the Woods, opening February 13 at the group’s theater in Kitty
Hawk.
Directed by Damon Horak and Evan Tillett, with musical direction by Emily Holmes, this
Broadway favorite weaves together timeless stories in a spellbinding musical journey.
The production follows a baker, played by Logan Stem, and his wife, Jordan Ferris, as
they embark on a heartfelt and humorous quest to start a family. Along the way,
audiences will encounter familiar fairy-tale characters including Cinderella (Adara Huls),
Jack (Lucia Weinstein), Rapunzel (Elise Rumschlag), Little Red Riding Hood (Jaylen
Lindsey), and the menacing Wolf (Matt Gabbard).
The show has a long and fabled history, premiering on Broadway in 1987 and winning
three Tony Awards. It has gone through several revivals since then and became a hit
film starring Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt in 2014.
“Like a lot of fairy tales, it can sometimes get a little dark and scary,” says co-director
Evan Tillett. “But overall, it is a fun tribute to favorite childhood stories set to some
incredible Sondheim music.”
“And once again,” adds co-director Damon Horak, who has directed several of Theatre
of Dare’s recent musicals, “the level of musical talent in our community continues to
amaze me. I think our audiences will have a great time going Into the Woods with us.”
(‘Into The Woods’ takes the stage February 13, 14, 18, 19, 20, and 21 at 7:30 p.m., with
matinee performances on February 15 and 22 at 2 p.m. Tickets are available here, with limited tickets available at the door on performance days, subject to availability. The production is rated PG for some darker themes and storylines.)
