Board of Directors
The Theatre of Dare Board of Directors is a nine-person volunteer committee charged with keeping the lights on and the shows running. Board members serve three-year terms, and elections are held during the General Membership Meeting at the end of each season. Board meetings are held monthly and are open to the general public. Business Manager
KELSEY THOMPSON
Long-time performer and recent Board Treasurer Kelsey Thompson will now be using that business brain of hers to manage our new theater in Kitty Hawk! She'll be the one keeping the lights on an the entertainment flowing on our new stage, so if you have any ideas, questions, comments or concerns, you can reach her at kelsey@theatreofdareobx.com.

KAY NICKENS
Kay's first Theater of Dare experience was seeing her husband play in the house band for The Great American Trailer Musical, and she was instantly hooked. She quickly became a ToD volunteer and has been actively involved ever since. Kay has enjoyed watching its growth and looks forward to helping support its continued success. She serves as the Public Information and Events Director for the Town of Duck as well as the Festival Director for the Duck Jazz Festival. When she's not working, you'll likely find her out running or reading with her cats.

ADARA HULS
After making her Theatre of Dare debut in Rocky Horror (2018) Adara has continued to grace the stage in productions like Arsenic and Old Lace, The Man Who Came To Dinner and the Drowsy Chaperone even making her directorial debut in 2021 with Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol. Adara has enjoyed every moment spent in this community and looks forward to the coming years as a board member.

TIM HASS
Tim is honored to be back on the Board of Directors for a second stint, having previously served on the Board from 2014-2020. He serves as TOD's amateur webmaster and publicist, has also appeared in shows such as The Drowsy Chaperone, Tuesdays With Morrie and Boeing Boeing and directed Exit, Pursued By A Bear and True West. In his spare time, Tim enjoys travel, photography and hosting trivia nights at the Lost Colony Waterfront Beer Garden.

KIM PLYLER
Kim made her ToD debut in The Rocky Horror Show in 2018 and has been actively involved ever since! From her leading role in Five Women Wearing the Same Dress to her featured roles in Mame and Urinetown, Kim embraces ever character with a passion! She has also served as assistant director for Next to Normal and is now taking her turn as director with Toil & Trouble. She has been a wonderful addition to our board since 2022!

LARA PARKS
Lara is a multi-faceted individual with a rich background in the arts. Currently working at Seagreen Art Gallery, Lara is not only a talented director and actress, but also a brilliant and creative fabric and block printing artist. Lara serves as an invaluable member of Theatre of Dare's Board, bringing her extensive artistic expertise to shape the creative vision of the organization. She has directed such wide-ranging shows as The Great American Trailer Park Christmas Musical, Next to Normal, and our original 2018 production of The Rocky Horror Show.

MARY ROSS
Mary made her TOD debut as 'Abby' in Arsenic and Old Lace, and you may have also seen her recently in productions such as The Rocky Horror Show, The Man Who Came To Dinner and The Drowsy Chaperone. She also assistant directed Exit, Pursued by a Bear and made her directorial debut with 2023's The Bad Seed.

NICK OPREA
Nick joined TOD as Mr. Mushnick in Little Shop of Horrors, and has appeared in several shows sice, including Arsenic and Old Lace, in which he shared the stage with his daughter Kana who played the dead body. You’ve might have also seen him in The Mousetrap, The Great American Trailer Park Christmas Musical, and The Wizard of Wonderland. Through his time at the theater he’s been supported by his beautiful family.

Raymond Wallace, a longtime behind-the-scenes supporter of Theatre of Dare, is excited to bring his 20 years of award-winning experience as a video producer, filmmaker, writer, and director to the Theatre of Dare Board. Recognized as Theatre of Dare’s Volunteer of the Year in 2022, he is passionate about helping Theatre of Dare continue to grow as a welcoming space for creativity, connection, and exceptional community theatre on the Outer Banks.
