Board of Directors
The Theatre of Dare Board of Directors is a nine-person volunteer committee charged with keeping the lights on and the shows running. Board members serve three-year terms, and elections are held during the General Membership Meeting at the end of each season. Board meetings are held monthly and are open to the general public. Anyone wanting to reach out to our board can email us at email@example.com
Long-time performer and recent Board Treasurer Kelsey Thompson will now be using that business brain of hers to manage our new theater in Kitty Hawk! She'll be the one keeping the lights on an the entertainment flowing on our new stage, so if you have any ideas, questions, comments or concerns, you can reach her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Stuart Parks II
Stuart Parks II has been a mainstay on the Theatre of Dare stage for more than a decade. By day he is an archivist at the Outer Banks History Center in Manteo, and at night he takes on the roles of a wide range of characters, including a rowdy mental patient in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, a bumbling King in Spamalot, and a sexy Sasquatch in Cabaret. He’s already served two terms on the board, but somehow still has not learned his lesson, so he’s back for another go.
Evan is a Dare County native who has been an integral part of our organization since his debut in Cabaret in 2018. He has since acted in productions such as The Rocky Horror Show (twice), The Last Five Years, and Exit, Pursued by a Bear. He has directed Five Women Wearing the Same Dress, assistant directed The Diaries of Adam & Eve, and will be directing the upcoming August: Osage County. He has been an active board member since 2020 and we have been stuck with him ever since.
Damon Horak is a newly elected Board member. Often referred to as the Phantom of the Theatre, you may have seen him around. He is a theatre arts extraordinaire with experience in directing, acting, choreographing, music directing and various technical aspects. Damon is proud to be sitting on the Board of Directors with such great members of this wonderful community organization!
STEPHANIE HARXNESS MOXLEY
Stephanie began participating in Theatre of Dare shows just a few years ago, but has quickly become an integral part of many shows costuming, props, and back stage needs. She looks forward to doing her part as a board member for TOD's continued growth and success.
Tim is honored to be back on the Board of Directors for a second stint, having previously served on the Board from 2014-2020. He serves as TOD's amateur webmaster and publicist, has also appeared in shows such as Tuesdays With Morrie and Boeing Boeing and directed Exit, Pursued By A Bear and Picasso at the Lapin Agile. In his spare time, Tim enjoys travel, photography and hosting trivia nights at the Lost Colony Waterfront Beer Garden.
Gail has worked with Theatre of Dare since its inception, directing our very first show, California Suite, way back in 1992! More recently, Gail has directed You Can't Take It With You, Cabaret, and The Very Merry Xmas Carol Holiday Adventure Show, as well as assisting in the production of Boeing Boeing and The Last Five Years. Gail is also a Lost Colony alumnus and holds a Theatre Arts degree from St. Andrew's Presbyterian College.
Bert moved to the area in 2011 to manage the USFWS fire program across NC. Finding a need for some real excitement, he joined TOD in time to perform in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. Many shows and tasks later, he finds himself on the board and looking forward to pushing our group further into the 21st century, even if he'll need to be dragged kicking and screaming there personally.
Kim made her ToD debut in The Rocky Horror Show in 2018 and has been actively involved ever since! From her leading role in Five Women Wearing the Same Dress to her featured roles in Mame and Urinetown, Kim embraces ever character with a passion! She has also served as assistant director for Next to Normal and is now taking her turn as director with Toil & Trouble. She has been a wonderful addition to our board since 2022!
