Middle-aged and married, overworked and overweight, Barney Cashman wants to join the sexual revolution before it's too late and arranges three seductions: the first, Elaine Navazio proves to be a foul-mouthed bundle of neuroses; Bobbi Michele is next, a 20-ish actress who's too kooky by half; finally comes September and Jeanette Fisher, a gloomy, depressed housewife who happens to be married to Barney's best friend.

AUDITION INFORMATION:

​

Auditions will be held on July 18 from 7-9 p.m. at the theater. Video auditions will also be accepted through July 18 by sending them to enicholds@hotmail.com. Those at the auditions will be asked to perform the scene below associated with the character they are auditioning for. They will also be asked to cold read dialouge from the script.

CHARACTERS:

​

Barney Cashman: Male, 45-60 year old.  A conventional owner of a New York seafood restaurant, a “romantic at heart” who finds himself smack dab in the middle of a midlife crisis. He describes himself as a “nice” man with a “nice” wife, living a “nice,” but completely uneventful, life. Barney purses fulfillment thru a series of clumsy, awkward attempts at infidelity using his mother’s apartment. Barney wants to get laid…. He just has no idea how to go about it, and it shows.

 

Elaine Navazio: Female, 30-45 year old attractive candid woman whose sarcastic biting wit overwhelms and toys with barney’s romantic ideals. She is a woman who wants to suck not only the marrow out of life, but also the life out of everyone she encounters.  Whoa here she comes she’s a Man Eater.

 

Bobbi Michele: Female, 22 - 35 year old free spirted and uninhibited nutty aspiring actress, whose quirky charms bubble over into her talkative tales throwing Barney for a loop…  In fact he can barely “get a word in edgewise”.   She is the epitome of a flibbertigibbet

 

Jeanette Fisher: Female, 40 – 55 year old wife to Barney’s best friend. No distinguishing features here, an invisible, gloomy, nervous, weepy, depressed lady who has decided to repay her husband's confession of infidelity by having an affair with Barney.  Finds herself in Barney’s apartment clutching her pocketbook for dear life.
